243 days/~ 35 weeks until Ironman
It has now been 2 weeks since I decided to sign up for a full distance Ironman. Much to figure out and just figuring it out all as I go. These things aren’t going to have any format. Just one long stream of consciousness. One thing I’m going to do is document the entire process. Not only is the goal to complete an Ironman triathlon, but get stronger while doing it, and share everything I know throughout.
Wouldn’t even be in this position if it weren’t for some of the steps I’ve taken with my training over the past year. Have completely rewired the way my body and nervous system moves, which is the only way i’ve given myself a shot to complete this. WOATA to GOATA . Staying healthy is priority #1. Counterintuitively, have to learn to sit still/take recovery seriously just as much as i need to learn to move effectively.
And I need to move a lot. 2.4 mile swim. 112 mile bike. 26.2 mile run. Back to back to back.
Haven’t been in the water in years. Don’t even own a bike. Running is tough, but fine. Could go for some better shoes. This is going to be one hell of a journey. Mapped out the first phase – acclimation.
This is a 4 week period of training, 6 days per week. Just finished the first week. All pretty light, with no more than 2 sports each day. The goals here are to simply get my body acclimated to each sport and begin building up baseline endurance before we move up into the next phase.
Will also aim to track my food, sleep, and strething/mobility so I can get a baseline there. If I want to make this work, it’s going to require all out dedication.
