Fear God, Homie

Proverbs 9:10, “The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding”

What does it mean to fear the Lord and why should you make that a top priority in life?

Let’s do as we do, and start with the end in mind. In an instant, you’re dead. Gone. Vanished. Off the face this earth. Forever. Your life is over. That’s it. No more chances. No nothing.

The transition wasn’t painful, for you personally. It was actually rather peaceful. Sure, your loved ones will spend time grieving their loss. But for you? The one who actually died? The moment itself was natural. And then you meet God. Or whichever creator you so happen to believe in.

And as you start to recount your life, God starts to show you all these different people. Successful beyond their wildest dreams. They went after everything they ever believed in. Lived a full life from the heart. No regrets. Whatever they set their mind to, they accomplished.

You don’t recognize any of them. And then God says: that’s you. Or should I say, that’s who you could have been. But you were too damn afraid of what other people thought, that you couldn’t listen to yourself. You didn’t start with the end in mind, so you let the meaningless opinions of mere mortals rule your life. Sure, it was the “comfortable” route. But now you have to live in eternity, tossing and turning over what could have been.

Now, you’re free to do as you please in life. But over here at Jacked-Strapped-Rich – we’d personally never let that slide.

To fear God, is to do whatever you have to do, in order to live up to your highest calling of good. This doesn’t give you free reign to act a fool and treat others with no regard. But it should be the main factor when making choices.

Example: If you truly stand for something, and wholeheartedly agree that the world would be better off with you sharing that information, then the decision to share, comes down to this. Side note: how you go about sharing is another question, but that’s besides the point of this article.

Do I hold this to myself, in fear of what the world will think of me? What if there is backlash? What if people don’t like me? What if, what if, what if? Most of which, is probably just in your imagination.

99% of problems are made up in the mind

On the other hand, you think: even though this might be uncomfortable to share, the world is better off hearing what I have to say. Sure, not everyone might agree with it. But ultimately, it’s going to get me closer to my highest maximum potential and the day I meet my creator – I can look back with a smile.

There is no greater fear than living a life of mediocracy. To look back on life, knowing that if you tried just a little bit harder, stepped outside your comfort zone more often, that everything and anything was possible.

When you begin to internalize this concept, the whole world opens up. You’re no longer held back by the opinions of others. In fact, you start to realize that nobody is even thinking about you that often in the first place. It’s pretty liberating.

And it’s the first step in freeing the shackles of your mind, so that you can begin your journey to becoming Jacked – Strapped – Rich – and living from a more authentic place of being.
